This week I thought it would be fun to change things up a bit. Craig is one half of The Hipster Dad and has one of the cutest kiddos on the block. Here is a little more about his experience in motherhood fatherhood.
Name and blog:
My name is Craig Silva and I run TheHipsterDad.com with Michael Savant.
Kid's name(s) and age(s):
I have one daughter, Sierra, and she turns 3 in mid-August.
Favorite part of being a mom Dad:
My favorite part about being a Dad is watching my daughter grow and develop her own sense of self. From the food and clothing she likes to the types of games and toys she enjoys playing with, she makes everything her own. She has such a strong personality and I get to watch it evolve, change and grow every single day. There is no better feeling than watching her be happy and be herself.
Most challenging part of being a mom Dad:
I think one of the most challenging things about being a Dad is making enough time in the (work) day to have quality bonding time. It's difficult because I leave the house early and return home just around bedtime. We have daily routines that truly help make sure we have quality time during each and every day. I've actually blogged about this topic in two posts called "Balancing Work and Family" (http://goo.gl/DBfCF) & "Family Comes First a.k.a. The challenges of being a working Dad." (http://goo.gl/9tnoi)
Best parenting tip/advice you've received:
One of my favorite bits of fatherly advice I've seen actually comes from our pal Pete Fazio over at DadAnd.com. He guest blogged for us about a year ago (http://goo.gl/F5sjT) and this was the advice he gave in the post:
Let your kids make mistakes, get dirty, and get a bump on the head once in a while. I think of J like a little lion cub. She's going to poke around in the yard and explore and get dirty and pick stuff up she shouldn't and climb on stuff she shouldn't and fall down. GOOD. I try to be as poised as possible to let her explore freely and swoop in when my spidey-senses start tingling.
SUCH a cute family. Thanks Craig!
